For those of you who got here through the forum, thanks to you too, but I'm specifically thanking those who clicked it from an "outside source." For they.....had no idea where they were headed.
And where they are - is here! In a thread, on a forum, made to compliment my newest creative venture - ClimbAddict.
"Why am I here?" you might be asking.
I will tell you.
What happened was....I got told by management at.... a certain website....that my signature line fell under their definition of advertising. Which is verboten on their site. Unless you are someone like Wendy's, paying per click to entice the viewer to gobble down some fast food burgers and fries. This was a little off-putting to me, since I am really just a girl who decided to put up some graphic designs related to climbing, and make them available to others. Not trying to convince anyone to do something they shouldn't(like buy and eat a "Value meal" of hydrogenated fat and salt that is probably more calories than a normal person needs in one day).
How to get around that issue, and still let people know about these goods I've got.....hmmmmm...... Thinking, thinking....thinking.....
Stealth promotion, gorilla marketing, creative use of pixels.....Call it what you may; I am fairly certain that, technically, this does not qualify as advertising on their site.
NYAH to "the man!" Gotcha....har har har.
So - if you are peeved about being had, please accept my apologies. Keep an eye open on the site; I'll be offering free stickers in a few weeks, once I get them designed, paid for and printed, and will be happy to send some your way. In the interim - why not take a look around?
Now, keep in mind - as of this moment going forward, you're on your own. Exercise your free will. Shut this link and go back to your previously scheduled program, if you so desire.
What have we got if you decide to continue down the rabbit hole, Alice?
I will tell you!
First - there are the ClimbAddict designs. You can find large graphics of them right here, just a click or two away. Here is the URL: climbaddict.proboards99.com/index.cgi?board=product. Or, go to the main page, look under "A Word From Your Sponsor" and then go to "New Designs."
If you want, for whatever reason, to copy the graphics....I suppose it is okay to some extent. Paste them into posts you make in forums, put them up in your MySpace profile or whatever. It would be nice if you credit us for the art. They are original and copyrighted where applicable.
Please don't copy to a file and take down to a print shop and make a t-shirt or something with the design. Why? Because they're just low-res JPegs, for one reason. They aren't suitable to print from. You'll get crappy results.
Second, because I spent ridiculous amounts of time to make some of them. Third, because they are ALREADY available printed on t-shirts, stickers, mugs, hats and some other stuff. What's more - the prices they are set at are ALREADY what you would pay to have it done on your own, when you factor in the time and effort involved. What's MORE - they will be printed from the original artwork file, at the proper resolution, for good quality. And ALSO, They are available through a source that offers a 30-day replacement or refund, no questions asked, policy.
These are good reasons to not pirate the art, in my mind.
So, how do you get there? To see these marvelous designs and smack down some buckaroos for your own piece of Happiegrrrl's slightly off-kilter, if not outright demented, creativeness? I'll TELL you!
You can find the designs all set up and easy to peruse, at www.CafePress.com/ClimbAddict. Click the link and see for yourself!
Now...if you're still here.....there is something else. Well two things.
First - As you probably noticed, this is a thread within a forum. The forum is for outdoors enthusiasts - Mostly climbing, but other genres are welcome and encouraged. We need content! And content, dear citizens of the universe, comes from you!
It would be quite nice if you could put up some stuff and entertain the others who may follow you, just a few nanoseconds behind. Think of it as being a leader on traverse. You want to set some pro for the second. Give them something to do; keep them focused on the here and now, instead of fearing some big old swing into the void and sure death as a result. Because, you know....that is just what we will focus on, if we haven't got a carrot keeping us, like a donkey, moving forward. Pendulumming to our demise.
It's true!
So - if you take a look around....you will eventually stumble across the threads where we are offering to give away free stuff.
"Free STUFF?!" you say. To which we reply, "Yes, free stuff." But I won't tell you where to find these threads. They are there; in plain sight, in this forum. Route-finding skills not really required. Not difficult at all to put your hands on, even with no chalky breadcrumb trail.
If you find yourself flummoxed, and honestly can't locate them.....click on my username and send me a PM. I will email you back with the link. I want to help!
This concludes the visual part of our program. Thank you for your time.
