So you want to ask for some ClimbAddict schwag, do ya....
I hate to tell you this....
...but please don't do it. Ask me for free stuff, that is.
ClimbAddict WILL be giving stuff away, at some point, if it becomes feasible. We also will be having some contests and crap like that fairly soon, in which a small amount of stuff will be given away.
But as for general requests from people who I have met through online forums, climbed next to at the cliffs, or have some other acquaintence to - please don't ask me for free samples.
The line has been up for less than a month and already I have had requests that would have set me back in the hundreds of dollars had I taken up everyone who has asked.
I am sure people don't realize that their request is only one of many I'vbe already had, but that is what it is. It feels really crappy to say no, but - many of the people make a hella lot more scratch than me in the first place!
The stuff I have put up through cafepress does not have a large markup on my end. 75% of the cost is direct overhead to them, and the balance covers (well, doesn't cover) all the effort I am making to create and market the thing. Not only am I not running in the black; it will be difficult to ever make a profit with the thing until it expands to cover general lifestyle designs(which, it eventually will, if I stick with it).
But for now - please keep in mind that if you ask for a sample, you are asking me to pay for it out of my pocket. A $15 shirt would cost me $12.00 and then the shipping to get it to either my place or yours at the least.
Most of the time I don't have $12 to spare. Add yours in with the weekly requests, and its between $50 and $100 I don't have to spare.
Thank you for not asking me to give you free stuff.
