Hey - This is the place to post your submissions to the ClimbAddict "So You Want To Be Sponsored" contest.(If you don't know what we're talking about, find out here: climbaddict.proboards99.com/index.cgi?board=writing&action=display&thread=1169558055). Post up, and feel free to discuss freestyle anything that comes up along the way. We'll trundle the choss to get the posts that are relevant when we need to. However, if someone mentions something that you feel would be a good topic for extended discussion, it's a good idea to start a separate thread about it.

I want to be entered into the "So You Want To Be Sponsored" contest, but I completely hate talking about myself so in a short list you should pick me because: I love climbing, and goto as many events as I can make it to. (Ouary twice, PBC when it existed, etc) My local gym runs many comp trials and the ABS which I attend and compete in the trials. I used to constantly take new climbers out to show them real rock. My license plate frame says "forget it let's go climbing" I must say that is a good way to live. I'm an avid fan of beer, as any good climber should be. I hate being at work or inside, and much rather be out and about advertising for Climbaddict :-) and of course I'm the first one to post

Who doesn't want to be sponsored by the best climbing company in the WORLD? I am so excited about the prospect I could just cry, but I will hold it back.
I suppose I will keep the story telling simple as well. I travel as much as possible to climb. I typically run around the West Virginia and Pittsburgh areas, but I have been all over New England too.
Road tripping and going to the climber's campground is almost as much fun as the actual climbing. The people I meet are always so much fun.
I am not a big person for comps, but I can only make it to an indoor gym during the weeks. So, you will find me pulling plenty of plastic.
I have introduced all of my friends to climbing, and I try to search out new people to climb with. To aid in this, I created a climbing email list that is quickly growing. I have had a lot of really fun days where I barely climbed at all. I just had a blast because someone else was able to accomplish so much.
I met my wife through climbing, and I ended up proposing on the Summit of Seneca Rocks. (You can read the full story at rockclimbing.com)
Anyways, I hope I am choosen. I would be very excited to be a ClimbAddict climber.

I believe I would be a great candidate to represent your companies beliefs, since climbing has brought a lot of positive to my life. I have realized that setting goals and meeting new people are more important than sitting behind a desk and "living the american dream" (ie making money). I now work seasonally for the NPS, informing tourists about issues dealing with Resource Management and the rest of my year is spent traveling to an array of climbing destinations across the US and Canada. I generally make these trips solo so meeting people to climb with is a must. I also don't mind taking people who have never climbed out for a day at the crag to help shed light to uninformed about what this sport is about, enjoying and protecting the outdoors and learning about yourself. I participate in as many volunteer opportunities that come to my area that I can. "Lumpy Days" the last four years as well as building trail in Red Rocks and Bishop. I believe I would be a great spokesperson for your company.

Climbing is, to put it simply, my life. Yeah, I’m in school and grades are important, but climbing is the motivation to get through it all. Finish my paper? Go out and climb. Get an A? Go out and climb. I started climbing when I was about 12 years old when I went to sleep away camp. My counselors told me I probably couldn’t make it to the top of the rock because I only had one hand. Being a verbose twelve year old, and uttered a “well SCREW that” and scrambled my way to the top. And it’s been a non-stop ride ever since. I started guiding rock for that same camp in 2004 and became the head instructor in 2005, all the while spending the majority of my time climbing in either Acadia National Park or Baxter near Mount Katahdin. In 2005 I started college at UVM and promptly got a job working at the climbing wall. Not seeing much of a climbing club, I decided to start one. Since then the club has been a wild success with over 150 members and this spring break we’re sending a group of climbers to JTree and Bishop. Not wanting the club to stay in the same place forever, this fall I worked to bring the UVM Climbing Club and the local Access Fund branch, CRAG-VT, together at its Adopt A Crag Day. I brought a van full of UVM climbers to our well-loved local crag, and with the help of the Crag-VT’ers we built several water bars and rock stairs to help stop the erosion that has been such a huge problem. These past couple months I’ve been pretty busy. We’ve breathed the life back into the defunct UVM Climbing Team and have been traveling all over New England for various comps. I’ve been placing pretty well, winning my division in a few, and having lots of fun getting out there and meeting new people (link for the news article from our first comp: media.www.castletonspartan.com/media/storage/paper1017/news/2007/02/14/News/Climbing.To.The.Top-2713847.shtml . They spelled my name wrong, but oh well!) As president of the Climbing Club I also am the spokesperson at Outing Club meetings, which attract hundreds of students every couple of months. I also speak for the club at local events and functions. My position in my local and regional climbing community is one with high visibility. Everyday I am networking with people both inside and out of the college community to support the sport of climbing and share the love. When not climbing I work at a gear shop, specializing in...you guessed it…climbing gear and other hard goods. I am also actively involved in adaptive climbing programs. As a one armed climber, I feel like it is my responsibility to share the love of the sport with other amputees and to prove that climbing truly is for every-body. You can find me at the new adaptiveclimbersorganization.com, or at the Shriner’s Hospital for Children spreading the love for the outdoors and working with the docs to design a better climbing arm. Simply put, I would be a great spokesperson for Climb Addict because I get myself way out there. I get out there like it’s my job. Climbing is life, life is climbing. -Maureen W. (aka Carabiner96)

Hi There,
I am what I would consider to be an average climber all things considered. I don't boulder double digits. I am relatively new to climbing routes but love it. A short tick list can be found (but is certainly not complete) on rockclimbing.com under this profile name.
On the whole I am a very quiet person who enjoys bouldering in smaller groups or climbing routes with one or two other people.
Anyone who has met me knows that I am very laid back (most of the time) and get super pumped to meet new people so long as they are not complete douchebags.
I would be great for your sponsorship because I am but one month away from embarking on a 2-3 month roadtrip and I love hoodies. They are my garment of choice actually and this would be a great way to get some publicity on a nationwide scale as I will be traveling by myself and am looking to meet as many cool new people as possible.
As for stewardship, I make a great deal of effort to leave as little trace as possible on an area as well as carting as much trash of the premisis as possible (cigarette butts excluded...I won't touch someone's nasty s@#t without gloves).
that is all.

Well - The time has come, and it actually sort of sucked, having to choose who got the selection of stuff and who got the one T-shirt choice! Next time, the contest is going to have to be a random drawing or something....
But, we did choose, and have sent PM's to each person who posted(If you didn't get that PM....please let me know).
The two chosen to receive the larger selection of goods are Microbarn and Sesser1...(I forget your number, man. Sorry.)
Good news is - everyone gets to get something. And we hope that you will be happy with the stuff when you get it!
